An update from Simon #2

Hope you're all well. It seems a bit weird saying Happy New Year on the 9th of January, but I haven't spoken to anyone since the 24th or I haven't left a video message since the 24th, which is the last time I did a little installation for you or an update for you guys.

Anyway, so update number two...

Frustrating is probably the word, really majorly frustrating. But you know, I know I say it is what it is quite, quite regularly. But what else can you say?

I have not had the operation yet, which is obviously a massive frustration in its own right. The reason unfortunately for this or one of the main reasons is because of the doctor strikes. These junior doctor strikes shouldn't really affect any major surgeries such as brain tumour removal, etc. But unfortunately, it has had a knock on effect, which has caused this delay.

So I am and I have been told that I can rest assured that I am at the very top of that list, which I do absolutely believe the team at JR have been very efficient in keeping me sort of not informed but checking in with me to see how I feel to see if there's any changes to make sure that if there are any changes to my steroid uptake if need be, which I have a little bit.

But basically, I'm really hoping that I will be in surgery. I would love to think by the end of this week. But that hasn't come from anyone yet.

And I'm trying to be fair and rather than judgmental on all of this but at the end of the day, it's, it's a growth in my head that is not supposed to be there. And we need to get cracking on with what we can do as soon as possible.

So anyway… as soon as I hear if I hear anything else, I will put probably a second very quick clip together and give you an update.

I’m excited to talk about the treatment plans I'm really researching hard on. One of them is called Optune. I can't remember if I spoke to you about that last time. Another one is immunotherapy which probably a lot of you have heard of. And then there is also looking at repurposed medications. So there are three or four areas I'm strongly looking into.

So I'm getting everything in place to happen in a sequence that is the correct sequence of things should happen in based on post operation. But, you know, I couldn't even be talking about this without the massive massive support, everyone has shown me.

I cannot thank you enough to be on a hundred and nearly £130,000 with fundraising since I think it was what was it mid sort of coming into the third week in December when we started the fundraising is phenomenal.

And I only have the love and kindness and generosity of people I know and indeed don't know which makes it more even more powerful coming together to support me on this and I will fight this and do as much as I can but also to raise awareness of brain cancer.

What we do and don't know about brain cancer and how much more we can do to fight this terrible disease and get it into a place where we know so much more and how we can go about attacking it in new and innovative ways.

And that's a big, big cause as well as trying to get myself better to spend amazing time with my amazing family.

And thank you once again, as I said, you're all terrific.
